Victorian doctors welcome the State Government decision to fluoridate Geelong and Ballarat tap water by the end of next year.
Fluoride is safe and effective. The National Health and Medical Research Council has concluded that fluoridation of drinking water remains the most effective and socially equitable means of achieving community-wide exposure to the tooth decay prevention effects of fluoride.
This move is long overdue. We're glad that in future all regional Victorians will have the same opportunities for dental health as their city counterparts.
