The AMA Victoria springs from the Victorian Medical Association, founded in 1852. It is part of the national AMA, the peak professional body representing doctors from all sectors of the medical workforce Australia-wide.
AMA Victoria looks after the needs and interests of its members which include a community responsibility.
We are committed to ensuring all Victorians have access to high quality health care through lobbying for improved services in the public system and guaranteed freedom of choice in the private system. Our member doctors put their collective strength behind state and national campaigns and lobbying to influence public health policies and regulations to improve the community’s health.
